AIR SAFARIS

Scheduled light aircraft depart from Nairobi every morning and afternoon for the magnificent Game Reserve, home of abundant wildlife. Stay in the lodge of your choice for a full day (full board) with morning and afternoon game drives. This safari can be extended for a second day.

The luxurious Larsen's camp sited on Uaso Nyiro River is the perfect base for game drive in the remote park. The hour long flight wings past Mt. Kenya and lands just a short drive a way from Larsen's in the morning and in the afternoon there are game drives searching for unusual species that live in this northern areas.

Fly from Nairobi to Meru National Park to stay 2 nights at the delightful Elsa's Kopje Lodge.  From the lodge you will be taken out on morning and afternoon game drives in a 4 wheel drive safari vehicle with an experienced driver-guide who is based at the camp and knows the area well.  The return flight comes back to Nairobi via Samburu. [Nairobi transfers are included]

Departs on Wednesday and Friday for 2 nights, or Sunday for 3 nights.  Price includes park entry fees

Sweetwaters tented lodge is 20,000 acres of privately owned wilderness in the heart of the Laikipia area of Kenya.  The landscape is mainly open grassy plains, thorny thickets and acacia woodland.  The Uaso Nyiro river runs through the reserve and there are a number of waterholes and dams.  The reserve has a network of tracks for game drives allowing visitors to explore the reserve and to see a wide variety of wildlife species.  Sweetwaters is noted for its black rhino and elephant, hippo, lion, giraffe, zebra, eland, warthog, oryx, impala, gazelles as well as many other species may be seen.  Night game drives may be taken at Sweetwaters giving you the possibility of seeing some of the nocturnal animals like aardvark or even leopard.  As this is a private reserve there are fewer visitors than in the main national parks, offering a more exclusive wildlife experience.

Within Sweetwaters there is a chimpanzee sanctuary where rescued animals are being looked after by a dedicated team.  A visit to the sanctuary is a rewarding experience.  At the visitors' information centre there is a small museum and nearby a tame black rhino, named Morani and reared as an orphan by the Kenya Wildlife Service, has been given a protected area to live.  You can approach this fully grown adult male black rhino quite safely on foot, escorted by a ranger.

Gamewatchers Safaris clients visiting Sweetwaters have two wildlife activities included each day with a choice of game drive, visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary and Morani the rhino, escorted walk and bush breakfast, night game drive or camel trek.
